- Sculptor, Delinda VanneBrightyn, works
in kiln-formed glass and bronze to create contemporary figurative
and abstract works which
speak of life, growth and revelation. I aspire to create
works which speak of grace and clarity, inspiring deep reflection
into the root and beauty of the human spirit, states VanneBrightyn.
Beginning at age fourteen with a career in dance, theatre, and
television, VanneBrightyn has performed with such extraordinary
talents as Gene Kelly, Bob Hope, Willie Nelson, BJ Thomas, and
Ginger Rogers to name a few. An accident in 1993 abruptly ended
her ability to dance and perform.
Re-emerging into the world of visual arts, VanneBrightyn today
works in the rigorous processes necessary to render her visions
in kiln-formed glass and bronze. VanneBrightyn is clearly influenced
by her past career in dance, as the work has been called graceful,
moving, powerful and deeply rooted
with meaning and intention.

- The change to sculpture was pretty
natural for me, says VanneBrightyn. Although dance
is a performance art, it is a wholly visual experience. Dance
embodies a series of lines in space, each exploring their intricate
relationship to the other and creating a fleeting vision sculpted
by the human body. To me, sculpture is a similar expression of
lines in space and their ensuing relationship, only fixed in
time. I like that sculpture is still, yet kinetic, moving us
inside ourselves and, unlike the elusive nature of dance, stands
solidified and timeless.
Besides her art, VanneBrightyn is very active in the community
of Taos. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for
the Taos Center for the Arts, Taos Search and Rescue, and Glass
Alliance New Mexico. VanneBrightyn produced an acclaimed
art event for six years for a major Los Angeles non-profit, has
chaired the TCA Quick Draw event for the last 7 years, and founded
and directed the Taos Art Glass Invitational beginning in 2008.
Sundance Performing Arts Center of Taos, founded and owned by
VanneBrightyn, is dedicated to serving the community by providing
a beautiful and economical space in the heart of Taos to further
the performing arts.
- VanneBrightyn is represented by The
Edge Gallery (Santa Fe), Hulse-Warman Gallery (Taos) and Hawthorne
Gallery (Springfield, MO). In the last two years, her art was
selected into juried exhibitions at Lew Allen Contemporary (Santa
Fe), The Amarrilo Museum of Art's Glass Biennial (Amarillo, TX),
Winterowd Gallery (Santa Fe), Henningsen Fine Art (Taos), Artifex
(Taos), and Salon Margraff (Santa Fe). The Smithsonian Museum
(Washington, DC) has purchased her work and VanneBrightyn is
in private collections throughout the United States.
