Sculptor, Delinda VanneBrightyn, works in kiln-formed glass and bronze to create contemporary figurative and abstract works which speak of life, growth and revelation. Perpetual movement certainly defines her life and career.
Beginning at age 14 with a career in the performing arts, Delinda has graced the stage with such extraordinary talents as Gene Kelly, Bob Hope, and Ginger Rogers. She has enjoyed performing as a dancer and actress for stage and television and as a spokesperson on a weekly television show. Her resume in the performing arts is extensive.
When an auto accident abruptly ended her performing arts career, she re-emerged into the world of visual arts. She gained recognition as a fiber artist and then moved on to glass as a primary medium in 2003. Delinda was most interested in kiln-formed glass, particularly pate de verre techniques. Today, she works in the rigorous processes necessary to render her work in sculptural kiln-formed glass, utilizing a combination of pate de verre and solid caste glass techniques. "My work speaks of what it is to be human and the change and growth we are faced with in order to realize our own full potential, both as individuals and for the whole of human kind."
In 2012 Delinda was recognized as one of the Remarkable Women of Taos for her work as an artist. She was one of 20 contemporary Taos Women featured on the original Taos website and was also featured in a book that documented the lives of the Remarkable Women of Taos. VanneBrightyn believes in giving back and further serves her community as a search dog handler for Taos Search and Rescue, assists people with dog behavior problems, and runs a community-based performance arts space called Sundance Performing Arts Center.
Her work is clearly influenced by her past career in dance, as the work has been called "graceful", "moving", “powerful” and "deeply rooted with meaning and intention". VanneBrightyn has shown in The Edge Gallery (Santa Fe), Hawthorne Gallery (Springfield, MO), and Hulse-Warman Gallery (Taos) and in juried shows at Lew Allen Contemporary (Santa Fe), Winterowd Gallery (Santa Fe), Henningsen Fine Art (Taos), Artifex (Taos), The Amarillo Museum of Art (Amarillo), and Salon Margraff (Santa Fe). The Smithsonian Museum (Washington, DC) has purchased her work and VanneBrigthyn is in private collections throughout the United States.
